Leading U.S. government services provider Perspecta and PRA Health Sciences recently completed a 2-year collaboration to modernize the Million Veteran Program (MVP) for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
MVP Online, the new, web-based solution for the program, was announced on January 7, 2020. The site debuted on October 4, 2019.
MVP is a national, voluntary research program funded by the VA Office of Research and Development. The program’s goal is to study how genes affect health. By partnering with over one million veterans in the VA healthcare system, the VA builds a vast medical database of safely-collected blood samples and health information.
MVP Online uses the software as a service (SaaS) model to deliver an innovative recruitment, enrollment, engagement, and feedback (REEF) solution. Transferring the program to an online setting eliminates paperwork processes that are becoming more tedious and obsolete. More importantly, the new website reaches more veterans to recruit for the program and helps the program increase retention.
Veterans can use MVP Online to easily enroll in the MVP Program, complete surveys, and learn more about the program through online resources and testimonials.
Perspecta utilized Clinical6, PRA’s mobile clinical trial platform for patient enrollment, engagement, and data collection, to construct MVP Online. Clinical6 offers a more inclusive, undemanding, and convenient patient recruitment strategy, allowing a wider range of patients to consider clinical research as a viable care option.
“As healthcare continues to evolve, it is essential that we focus on impactful ways to engage with veterans digitally from their homes or anywhere in the world, so they can enroll in research faster, stay engaged with their caregivers, and get better overall treatment,” said Kent Thoelke, Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice President at PRA.
PRA continues to focus on ways to bring clinical research directly and efficiently to patients. By leveraging our data, expertise, and technologies, we elevate clinical trial design to work for patients like the MVP Program to veterans.
